Page Municipal Airport is categorized as a Primary Airport and is
owned and operated by the City of Page. The airport contains 536-acres
located in the northeast corner of the City. Residential development has
occurred along nearly the entire length of the western boundary of the airport
with the remaining three sides of the airport restricted by sloping terrain.
Currently, the airside facilities at Page Municipal Airport
include a single asphalt concrete runway 15-33, with dimensions of 150 feet in
width by 5,500 feet in length; and a gravel crosswind runway 07-25, with
dimensions of 75 feet in width and 2,200 feet in length. Runway 15-33 is
served by a full-length parallel taxiway with five (5) connecting
taxiways. Runway 07-25 does not have a parallel taxiway, but uses the
parallel taxiway from runway 15-33 for access to the terminal. Runway
15-33 and its parallel taxiway are equipped with Medium Intensity Runway and
Taxiway Lights (MIRL) (MITL) with radio transmitter control activated by
pilots. Threshold lights with Runway End Identifier Lights (REILs) are at
both ends of runway 15-33. Runway 07-25 does not have runway
lighting. Visual Approach Slope Indicators (VASI’s) are located at each
end of runway 15-33. A Terminal Very High Frequency Omnirange (TVOR) with
Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) is located to the northeast of the
intersection of the runways. Also available are an Automated Surface
Observing System (ASOS) at 120.62, and a UNICOM at 122.80.
The landside facilities include a new terminal building, maintenance
hangar, office and storage space built in 1994-95, with approximately 31,800
square feet. Classic Helicopters is the only rotor wing FBO at Page
Municipal Airport and is located at the west end of the terminal complex. The
City of Page is currently negotiating for a fixed-wing FBO for the new terminal
building. There are 36 privately owned hangars: twenty (20) T-hangars plus
sixteen (16) conventional box hangars. The Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting
(ARFF) equipment is located south of the old terminal and is certified as Index
A capable.
The airport has 137 aircraft tie-downs, airline service to Phoenix
and Denver, air ambulance, fixed and rotor wing air tour services, a Fixed Base
Operator with fuel services, 54 based aircraft, over 19,000 total passenger
enplanements and over 22,000 total aircraft operations in 2000. In 1998
it contributed $20 million economic impact (including multiplier effects)
from a variety of aviation-related activities including commercial air service,
general aviation activities, cargo transport, military activities, travel and
tourism. The airport also contains a permanent base for the National Park
Service and a base for the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR), Salt River Project (SRP)
and the Navajo Nation. Major construction grant funding is provided by
entitlements from the FAA and ADOT, and revenues from the airport
operations.
