Glen Canyon Lecture Series - "How & Where To Make Great Photographs" presented by Jack Dykinga
Date: Tuesday, May 13, 2008 In Images: Jack Dykinga's Grand Canyon, stunning vistas of the Grand Canyon come alive through the photography of Pulitzer Prize winner Jack Dykinga. Complimenting the photography, award-winning writers Charles Bowden and Wayne Ranney offer unique perspectives on the Canyon's magnificent beauty and the theories surrounding its fascinating formation. Jack Dykinga began his photojournalism career with the Chicago Tribune. In 1971, as a member of the Chicago Sun Times staff, he won journalism's highest award, the Pulitzer Prize, for feature photography. He came to Arizona in 1976 and five years later began his freelance career making landscape photographs. Dykinga's work reflects the merging of a photojournalistic, documentary approach with large-format landscape photography, focusing on environmental issues in the United States and Mexico. His work regularly appears in Arizona Highways. The 36x40 Fuji Crystal Archive prints of his work are breathtaking and highly valued by collectors. Dykinga lives in Tucson. A Book Signing will follow the presentation. Admission is free. The Glen Canyon Lecture Series is sponsored by Glen Canyon Natural History Association, Powell Museum, and Page Public Library and provided as a service to the community and the visitors to Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Rainbow Bridge National Monument, Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, and Glen Canyon Dam/Lake Powell.
