Director of Engineering

The City of Page is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual for the position of Director of Engineering.   The Director of Engineering, plans, directs, manages and oversees the activities and operations of the Engineering Department including engineering services and inspections, drainage, facility maintenance, fleet maintenance, airport, parks, and contract administration; coordinates assigned activities with other departments and outside agencies; and provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the City Manager.

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a closely related field. Five years of increasingly responsible civil engineering experience. Must be registered as professional civil engineer in Arizona or have the ability to obtain said licensure within six months of employment.

The City of Page is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual for the position of Community Development Director.   The Community Development Director performs highly responsible administrative and supervisory work in planning, organizing, and directing the general operation of the Community Development Department, which includes planning, zoning, building inspection, permitting, tourism, code compliance, and the community and economic development functions of the City.

Requirements for qualified candidates are a Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, Economic Development or a closely related field.  Five years of increasingly responsible experience in public administration, planning, community development or code enforcement, including four years of administrative and management responsibility.  Preference given to candidates with a Master's Degree.

Starting salary range $74,500 to $80,000 depending on experience/qualifications.

DUTY DESCRIPTION  Highly specialized and demanding work which involves receiving, prioritizing, and dispatching all calls for service for the City of Page. Work is often fast paced and stressful requiring the ability to multi-task, think clearly, and act promptly under pressure. Public contact is germane to the position and requires great tact and discretion. Responsible for receiving and accurately dispatching in a timely manner the appropriate law enforcement, fire and EMS units to all 9-1-1 calls. Answers radio traffic generated by numerous agencies. Performs a variety of computer work including computer aided dispatch and state and national entries and searches. Job requires working rotating shifts including days, swings, midnights, weekends and holidays.\

Excellent hearing and the ability to speak clearly.

DUTY QUALIFICATIONS  Compiles, organizes, types and files work involving but not limited to payroll, budget, personnel matters, purchasing, meetings activity reports, correspondence and department specific work requirements. Serves as office and telephone receptionist, provides some scheduling coordination for supervisor and department meetings. Meet with Chief of Police and supervisory staff to review departmental issues, activities, and identify future needs. Review with the Chief of Police, supervisory staff, existing departmental policies, procedures, rules and regulations and develop or recommend changes of General Orders. Supervise office personnel. Keep the Chief of Police appointment calendar, be responsible for the files, the dissemination of information, and act as the receptionist to the Chief of Police. Establish travel and meeting arrangements for out of town trips for Administrative staff.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and ExperienceGraduation from a high school or GED equivalent. One to three (1-3) years of previous clerical experience in positions involving public contact with some prior work exposure to law enforcement and public safety functions preferred or any equivalent combination of related education and experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS  No felony convictions.No illegal drug usage per Arizona POST.Must be at least 19 years of age.Required to obtain and maintain ACIC/NCIC Level A terminal operator certification within six (6) months of employment.Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality in all police matters.
