POSITION:           Chief of Police

DUTY DESCRIPTION

The Police Chief provides administrative direction for the Police Department functions, operations, and personnel through supervision of subordinate staff and review of their activities. Responsibilities include formulating policies and regulations governing activities, and preparing or directing their preparation of proposals concerning department activities for consideration by the City Manager. Work involves the selection, training, assignment, and discipline of all departmental personnel. Administrative duties include the: directing the preparation of annual budget estimates and controlling the expenditures of departmental appropriations; developing short and long range plans and objectives to improve department services; directing training to increase department efficiency and prepare employees for advancement; and coordinating department activities with those of other City departments and law enforcement agencies. The incumbent serves as the primary City authority on matters pertaining to department programs and law enforcement, and speaks before public groups on the plans, programs and goals of the Police Department. This class performs other related duties as required or assigned. OR knowledge and experience combined .

DUTY QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Public or Business Administration, or a related field.  Ten plus years of progressively responsible management experience in law enforcement.

DUTY DESCRIPTION:

Officers identify criminal offenders and criminal activity and where appropriate, apprehend offenders and participate in subsequent proceedings. Identify and reduce the opportunities for the commission of crime through preventative patrol and other measures (including but not limited to community crime prevention and community policing) and facilitate the movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Aid individuals who are in danger of physical harm, create and maintain a feeling of security in the community.

DUTY DESCRIPTION
This position is responsible for performing clerical and accounting for the City of Page Magistrate Court. Work involves typing, office procedures, maintains court dockets, records, logs and related documents. Incumbent follows established procedures, including some established by the Supreme Court system. Position requires the use of independent judgment, initiative and absolute discretion. Public contact is a routine occurrence for this position, including regular receipt of money in payment of fines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and talk or hear. Must be able to climb step stools and ladders. The employee must occasionally use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
DUTY QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:

  1. Must have command of Business English, spelling and mathematics
  2. Two (2) years clerical experience.
  3. Experience in court related duties is preferred.

 

 

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have working knowledge of office procedures, practices, systems and equipment.
Knowledge of court proceedings, warrants, court records management, and any Supreme Court clerical training is desirable.
Basic knowledge of Arizona Revised Statutes and Arizona Court procedures and Judicial Rights of people appearing in court desirable.
